This month we celebrate the mysterious and alluring Opal, the birthstone for October. Many cultures believe Opals have supernatural powers. The Bedouins believed that Opals contained lightening and fell from the sky during storms. But for those who own one, the Opal can have special meaning beyond mere superstition.
Rachael came to us with her heirloom white opal to create a ring design that would honor her late relative but would also speak to Rachael’s more modern sensibility. A turquoise halo was created to pull out the lovely blue hues from the opal. The creative process, and the final heirloom piece together created a new and beautiful memory.
“I had some old jewelry that needed new life. Irene and Lynne and I had so much fun reimagining it in a style that honored the gems and their sentimental value while making them wearable for me. I love how they turned out and will continue to look for ideas to repurpose and reinvent. It’s so different when you have a hand in the design. Wonderful, I can’t say enough about this great experience and beautiful result!
