Restore & Revive
Worth Doing Right
One of our longtime clients brought us a tanzanite and diamond halo ring that she had worn and loved for many years. Over time, however, her style changed, and the ring no longer felt like her.
Our customer asked us
I love the gemstones in my ring, but my style has changed. Can we redesign it?
The Story
One of our longtime clients brought us a tanzanite and diamond halo ring that she had worn and loved for many years. Over time, however, her style changed, and the ring no longer felt like her. She wanted to reuse the tanzanite and the diamonds in a completely new design.
She sent us an inspiration photo featuring three diamonds clustered on each side of the center stone and asked if we could create something similar. We developed two options for her—one with a traditional prong setting and another with a sleek bezel setting. She immediately preferred the bezel.
There was just one problem.
Years of wear had left the tanzanite scratched and dull. Although she understood that repolishing the stone would make a dramatic difference, it was an additional expense she hadn’t planned on and wanted to postpone.
That’s when I told her something I truly believed:
“If we don’t address the condition of this stone, I don’t think you’ll be happy with the result.”
We know that creating a custom piece is a significant investment, and we would rather be honest than create something we know won’t meet a client’s expectations. Because she had trusted us with many projects over the years, we offered her a substantial discount on the polishing.
She agreed.
When the finished ring was complete, the newly polished tanzanite sparkled with life again, and the design reflected both her current style and the beauty of the original gemstones.
Trust is an important part of custom design. Sometimes the best advice we give isn’t about design—it’s about helping clients make decisions they’ll be happy with for years to come.
“Ooooh pretty!! I like the bezel setting better. And yes, let’s do the polishing-I trust your advice and appreciate the discount!”
